Eileen Bechler
Special Education Teacher/STL

Hi, my name is Eileen Bechler. It is a joy to be a part of the vibrant community at Garden Place Academy! I entered teaching through music, earning my Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the State College of New Jersey. I then went to Northwestern University to earn a Master’s degree in vocal music performance, spending the following decade singing professionally as a mezzo-soprano with various ensembles, including the Chicago Symphony Chorus. After moving to Denver, I went to Metro State University to add Elementary Education, Linguistically Diverse Education, and Special Education to my teaching endorsement. My first job in DPS was as the music teacher for Gilpin Montessori. Montessori? What is that? I fell in LOVE with Montessori, went back to school again, to be credentialed with the American Montessori Society as both a Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary Montessori guide. Finally, I continued my Montessori training at St. Catherine University, earning a second Master’s degree in Education, Advanced Montessori Studies. I am excited to coach our Montessori teaching team, and to teach with the Garden Place Special Education team. Go Tigers!
