My name is Sara Mayo and I have been teaching art for 15 years. I started my career on the west side of Chicago teaching at a K-8 school. Chicago is where I was born and raised (GO BEARS!), in the city, on the north side. I attended the University of Illinois and have a BFA in Art Education. After 3 years of teaching in Chicago I moved to Denver and taught at Pioneer Charter School from 2004-2011. I have been at Garden Place ever since.
I love to create my own art, especially mosaics, where I create artwork using stained glass pieces, ceramic tile, metal hardware, wire, you name it! I also love oil painting. I spend a lot of time with my family in the outdoors hiking, camping, skiing, jogging and gardening. My family and I love to eat out and attend music festivals. I have two children, Tessa (10) and Chase (6).
